NON-CANONICAL BASE PAIR DATABASE : Individual Record Page 422

Authors:Agalarov SC, Sridhar Prasad G, Funke PM, Stout CD, Williamson JR
Citation:Structure of the S15,S6,S18-rRNA complex: assembly of the 30S ribosome central domain Science 288:107-112 April 07, 2000
Base Pair Type:GGC amino-carbonyl(G), N3-amino(C); Watson-Crick
Base Pair Category:Triple Base Interactions; Major groove triple
Sequence Context:5' U G(752) A 3'
5'
A G(654) A 3'
5'
A C(754) G 3'
Structure:16S rRNA of T. thermophilus, Tth T4 RNA, helices 22 & 20
Pucker Info:C754 & G752 both have the C2'endo conformation
Melting Point:*
Free Energy:*
Chemical Shift:*
Glycosidic Conf:C754 adopts syn conformation
Extra Info:"This triple-base interaction occurs between the junction nucleotides G654 & G752 of helix 22 and C754 of helix 20. C754 is above the U652-A753 base pair and places helix 20 at an acute angle relative to helix 22. The C2'endo conformation of C754 & G752 creates a sharp bend in the RNA backbone between G752 and C754. C754 adopts the syn conformation and forms a Watson-Crick base pair with G654, and together they hydrogen bond with G752 forming a triple-base pair.
