NON-CANONICAL BASE PAIR DATABASE : Individual Record Page 425

Authors:Agalarov SC, Sridhar Prasad G, Funke PM, Stout CD, Williamson JR
Citation:Structure of the S15,S6,S18-rRNA complex: assembly of the 30S ribosome central domain Science 288:107-112 April 07, 2000
Base Pair Type:GA N7-N1,amino carbonyl
Base Pair Category:Flipped Purine-Purine Mismatches; Cis Watson-Crick/Hoogsteen
Sequence Context:5'  3'
U G,*
G-A
G G,*
3'  5'
Structure:16S rRNA of T. thermophilus, Tth T4 RNA, helices 22 & 23a
Pucker Info:*
Melting Point:*
Free Energy:*
Chemical Shift:*
Glycosidic Conf:*
Extra Info:A665 flips out of helix 22 and is inserted into helix 23a, it base pairs with G724 of helix 23a and stacks within helix 23a. This interhelical base-pairing fixes the orientation of helix 23a with respect to helix 22, thereby stabilizing the global conformation of the nearby upper three-helix junction (22, 23a, and 23b).
