1.  HENRY3 GRAYSON (JOSEPH2, BENJAMIN1) was born November 02, 1799 in Anderson CO, TN, and died May 09, 1879 in Marion Co., TN.  He married NANCY HIXSON September 11, 1820 in Bledsoe Co. TN.

He was a blacksmith & Wagon maker.

 

Called William Henry Grayson by Euline Harris & others but I have never seen

evidence for this.

 

Buried in Burnett #1 (Take Highway 283 North of Powells Crossroads to

the six mile marker.

 

Jim McCoin has the family bible. It gives birth dates and a few death dates (Henry, Nancy and Joesph A.) for family members. Bible was published in 1847 and all the birth information was clearly put in at the same time.

 

Henry gave land & money to a James Anderson Bryant for "love and affection" on April 26, 1871. Who is this person!? A nephew perhaps!?

TN, and died 1922 in Bradley Co., TN.  He married (1) VASHTI PICKETT 1844 in Bledsoe Co., Tennessee.  He married (2) ELIZABETH KING May 31, 1864 in Davidson, TN.  He married (3) SARAH HICKS August 24, 1884 in Hamilton Co., Tennessee.  He married (4) MARTHA HOWARD August 29, 1913 in Bradley Co., Tennessee.

In 1860 married to Vashtie. Her names is Vartis in the 1850 census. Info on children from 1850 & 1860 Census. 1850 Census lists Berry age 2 but he is missing in 1860- Presumed to have died.

James Grayson McCoin gives the wives as Vashti Pickeett (b. 1829 Bledsoe Co), Elizabeth King (b. 1837) and Sarah Hicks. This data has been entered on family page. Dennis Gertz gives the birth & death dates shown and reports a 4th wife-Martha Howard. Bill Gertz page says he died in 1924 in Hamilton Co., TN.

consistent dates- thus other info taken from the cemetary inscriptions.

 

According to GNN 4(1) article buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery  according to    Raulston List #77.  Also: Martha is a sister of the wife of James Grayson

 

Patrick Henry was the guardian for Joseph Grayson's minor children- which Joesph!?, They were M. A. Grayson who married a Bowen, Joseph Grayson & John Grayson.

Notes

Birthdate was 6/8/1834 according to tombstone in Grayson Cemetary.

Probably wrong however because sister was born on a different date in 1834.

1860 census lists Joseph Grayson age 10 who was born in Missouri- Quite

likely not their child based on ages and the fact Houston was probably not in

Mo.  James Grayson McCoin gives year of death as 1918 which is inconsistent with cemetery transcription recorded by Euline Harris.

 

Dr. Richard Grayson mentions a Walter C. Grayson who had 3 sons & 4 daughters and was deceased by 1974 as having been a son of William Grayson who was son of Houston Grayson. Theinfo obtained from Dennis Gertz lists this William Grayson.

 

I had an Anderson Grayson, b.1875 listed as a son. Dennis Gertz does not list this person & he has been removed here.
